Entrepreneurship
Our spinout companies, and how we work with student inventions.
Meshy Bio AB
Meshy Bio AB is our spinout company, incorporated in 2026 to commercialize the Mesh Chip: spatial genomics at scale with self-assembled capture chips. It was co-founded by members of the group together with Erik Benson (Karolinska Institutet) and Ammar Zaghlool (Uppsala University). The underlying patents were produced in the group, and KTH Ventures (formerly KTH Holding AB) is a shareholder.
Cubase Bio AB
Cubase Bio AB is a Stockholm based spatial biology company, commercializing a technology for enabling 3D spatial biology at scale. Ian Hoffecker is a scientific advisor and a co-inventor on one of the company's patents.

Publishing is not the only route a good idea can take, so students here are encouraged to patent what they invent and to pursue it as a project of their own, taking part in the process directly: prior art searching, claim drafting, and the work with our patent agents. Where a project turns out to have a market, we help put together the vehicle that carries it, as we did with Meshy Bio.
We are supported in this by KTH Innovation, and our spinout work is enrolled in their
